How To Remove Google Search Slop
How To Remove Google Search Slop
Did you know that there is a way to get a cleaner set of search results, you know, the ones we used to get before they included the AI answers, the knowledge blocks, the shopping, and all the other slop that makes up a Google page these days?
And it is as simple as:
?udm=14
Let me explain. At the top of the Google page you will see All, Videos, Images, Shopping, and Web etc. If you type your search query into Google and hit Web, it appends the code above and also a ton of tracking information into the URL but you get a clean set of results.
So instead of this…
You get…
Meaning you dont need to scroll down the page to start seeing actual results.
No AI, no videos, no slop.
… but the best part is you can make this your default type of search if you want to.
To do so in Chrome, simply go to your settings, then in the search bar at the top type ‘search engine’, you should see this option…
Click on the Manage search engines and site search at the bottom. In the site search section there is an add button, click that and enter the following.
You can copy the url here:
https://www.google.com/search?udm=14&q=%s
Then hit add, and if you scroll up the page a little to the search engines you should now see your new Clean Google option. Click the three little dots and choose set default.
There you have it, a much cleaner Google search experience by default. If you do want to see all the other slop on the page then simply choose All at the top of the search results.
For CTR Booster Map type Projects
Here is a Google Search I did for “Internet Marketing Near Me in Rossendale”.
The search brought in a Clean Google search result with no maps or knowledge graph displayed.
If you then Click “Maps” it will bring in a Map search where you can search for the Target GMB.
This method can be used for “Map” and “GMB” search projects.
For CTR Booster Map “Knowledge Graph” Projects
If you click the “ALL” it will bring in the Knowledge Graph for that Target Branded Business.
